David Bomberg (1890–1957) and the Borough: A different class

This article examines David Bomberg's teaching practice during his time at the Borough Polytechnic (now London South Bank University) in the 1940s and 50s. Exploring the innovations, tensions, and contradictions in his pedagogical methods, particularly in relation to The Borough Group, it argues that Bomberg should be accorded an important footnote in the history of post-War British art education.
